Step 1: Head To Woodlands Train Checkpoint
Once you have purchased your train tickets online, take a bus to Woodlands Train Checkpoint to board your train.

From opposite Marsiling MRT Station, take Bus 856

Step 2: Walk To Woodlands Train Checkpoint Level 2
Once at the checkpoint at Level 2, wait for the call for boarding.
Your passport serves as a boarding pass, so you don’t need to print out tickets.

Step 3: Clear Singapore Immigration & Malaysia Immigration At Woodlands Train Checkpoint
Clear the Singapore immigration, then followed by the Malaysia immigration after entering the departure gate.
Both are located on the Singapore side. You must clear both sides before being permitted to board the train.
Step 4: Board 5 Minute Train Ride To JB Sentral & Walk To City Square JB
Enjoy your short train ride to JB Sentral and once arrived, take the escalator or staircase up, and follow the Exit direction. Walk and you will arrive at the JB Sentral building.
Walk further and you will shortly reach City Square JB.
Few Things To Note:
- Woodlands Train Checkpoint opens 40 minutes before departure and closes 20 minutes before departure
- You can purchase train tickets 6 months in advance
- Book your tickets early for travel during the weekend, public or school holidays
- Kids under 3 years old ride train for free

Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange is an outdoor bus interchange within walking distance from Woodlands MRT Station.

Take Exit B from Jurong East MRT to get to the Jurong East Interchange.
Alight at JB Sentral Terminal and walk to JB CIQ for immigration.

From Newton MRT, take Exit B to Newton Food Centre (also known as Newton Circus). Walk across the open-air car park to find the CW5 bus stop.

Few Things To Note:
At Singapore Woodlands Checkpoint
- Go up the escalator and queue to get your passport stamped
- Once done, go down the escalator, make a U-turn and you will find the queue for the bus
- If you have taken SBS bus, you may board any SBS buses to go to JB CIQ.
- If you have taken any CW bus, you may board any CW buses to go to JB CIQ.
At Johor Bahru Checkpoint (also known JB CIQ)
- Make your way to the counter and get your passport stamped. No immigration card is required to be filled.
- Once done, get out from the counter area and walk towards JB Sentral. Follow the signages and you will reach City Square JB shortly.
- E-gate available
For SBS bus: If using EZ-Link, tap in every time you board a bus, and tap out every time you alight.
For Causeway Link bus: If using ManjaLink, tap your card when boarding or re-boarding. Do not tap when alighting.
4. How To Get To City Square JB From Singapore By Car (Self-Drive)
The most important thing for your road trip to Malaysia is your mandatory travel documents. You would not want your exciting trip cancelled just because of a few forgotten papers, right?
Step 1: Prepare All Necessary Documents Before Driving Into Johor Bahru
- Ready your passport, driving licence and VEP
- Prepare a Touch ‘n Go (TNG) card
- Have at least 3/4 of your petrol tank filled
- Buy Data Roaming Plans
Step 2: Head To Woodlands Checkpoint For Immigration Clearance
- To avoid fines amounting to SGD 1000, pay toll charges before driving away from the immigration booth
- Pay the charges even if the barrier is lifted after the immigration clearance
- Top-up your stored-value card in Singapore (no top-up machine available at the checkpoint)

Step 3: Drive To JB Checkpoint For Custom Check
- Get ready your passport & Touch N Go card
- Wind down your windows for the officer to see the total number of people
- Switch on your car interior lights so that the officer can see clearly
Step 4: Pay Road Charge & Toll Fee Using Touch N Go Card
- Pay Malaysia toll using your Touch N Go card
Step 5: Proceed To GREEN Line If Nothing To Declare
